Mechanical Behaviour of Asphalt materials

Course content

Objectives The students will learn the most current advanced techniques and models to characterize asphalt materials and to describe the actual mechanical behavior of asphalt binder and asphalt mixture together with the response of the intermediate material phases. The students will be able to link the tests methods and measured parameters to the corresponding material models. The students will learn the basic concepts of failure mechanisms in asphalt pavements. Toppics Using the basic laws of mechanics, students acquire in-depth knowledge of the physical properties of road construction materials. A wider range of laboratory testing techniques to determine performance parameters for unbound and bonded road construction materials such as asphalt and concrete are presented.
